Hi Matthias 🙂
Great site and great videos 🙂
I just bought my s1000 with GH3 Gimbal and 1 GH4 camera.
I ordered all parts from USA and some other parts from UK, and one friend of me fixed me the copter.
While fixing it, we realized that the GH4 has a micro HDMI port.
Could you please tell me how you connect the GH4 on the GH3 gimbal?
What cable or adapter are you using? Can you please provide me some more info, and also where I can buy it?
I have everything ready and I cant start filming because of that and I am kind of sad 🙁
And one last question? Do you have the DJI video downlink? Can you please tell me how did you set up everything to achieve so beautiful videos?
Thanks a lot and many regards from Greece 🙂
Hey Emanuel
Great article
Which profile picture would you recommend us using in a day light?
gh4
Panasonic 12-35 lens + nd’s
Do you think incresing shutter spead will reduce rolling shutter apperal?
For example, we are shooting 50fps, so can I use less than 1/100?
Which memory card are you using?
Thanks

Picture profiles depend on what you are looking for and how, or if you adjust them. You might want to take a look at the blog post of my friend Philip Bloom about the GH4 too http://philipbloom.net/2014/05/12/gh4/
Increased shutter speeds can make look things better. But If the sensor readout is to slow this won’t help either. You also will get less smooth motion blur when raising the shutter speed.
Usually a shutter speed that double the frame rate is the way you want to got. So if you film in 25fps a shutter speed of 1/50 would be great. In bright daylight something hard to achive without a heavy ND Filter.
I’m using 64GB Trancend U3 cards. They are decently priced and worked great for me yet. Any card you use in a GH4 should be a fast U3 write speed card.
Hello Mathias! I’ve seen ur latest work on vimeo and I’m blown away, good job! So I was wondering, what resolution, fps and shutter speed are you going for, whats your final setup after all these try-outs…
Best regards

Hello Andreas
It all depends on the current light condition and what kind of look needs to be achived.

My man i need some help i bought the s1000 and the ronin m I’m in love with my set up i balanced my ronin before, put it on my chopper i also calibrated my chopper and i flew my GH4 with a lighter lens witch is the 14mm Panasonic. I am still getting some shake in my footage, I also changed my rubber dampers to the softer version. Maybe it has something to with the camera, I flew 4K, 30 Frames and my shutter speed at 60 and i still get shaky video. Can you help me out or some advice! Thank You.
The Ronin M is far from optimal for aerial use, as it does not have any gps and it also does not receive flight data from the flight controller. So you’ll always have some horizontal drift issues.
Apart from that most s1000 got vibration issues. The first thing to check is the tube that connects both landing gears. This tube is only pused in place. In flight the landing gears are not really locked and can start to move up and down. Especialy wirh longer legs, which you use to gets ground clearance for the ronin. One option is to glue the tube with epoxy so it stiffens up the movement.
The stock lower bottom plate also does not support all arms. This can lead to vibrations due of a to soft construction. There are different compsnies offering stronger plates, which also cover all arms.
Last but not lesst you’ll need to adjust and search for the optimal gains.
The s1000 is a nice platform but stiffness wise far from perfect.
In my opinion its not good enough to use with heavier gimbals. A lot of people already fight with vibrations with a stock setup.

Remote shutter funktioniert bei der finalen Version einwandfrei. Ich hatte lediglich beim Vorserienmodell ein Problem damit.
Very cool! What lens were you using?
OLYMPUS M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12mm f2.0, the only officialy supported lens on the GH3 Z15.

Planning a shoot next week with a Vulcan Mantis, a DJI ronin and the GH4. Interesting footage. Can’t wait to see how ours comes out.
Let us know how it went 🙂
