The DJI z15 GH4 gimbal Z15 works also with the Olympus M Zuiko Digital 25 mm 1,8 lense. So this can be a great addon lense to the official supported OLYMPUS M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12mm f2.0
The GH4 Z15 Gimbal initiates without any problems as the weigh difference is only a few gramms.
As the back of the 25mm lense is thicker then the one of the 12mm lense, the Z15 lense support ring can’t be used anymore. But the back of the 25mm almost got the needed size for a thight fit so it can be used without it. Or you could make it a good match with just a bit of work.
First tests showed pretty good results. Depending on the subject this can be a very nice lense to shoot with as you can stay further away.
The only thing I did not like was that there are no focus markings on the lense. The focus ring can also be turened infinitly. So either you use the autofocus option (which I don’t like) or you have to play a bit with the focus before the start.
Bellow is a short clip that a freidn of mine shot with the Olympus M Zuiko Digital 25 mm 1,8 lense on a DJI GH4 Z15 and a S900 hexacopter.

Hi!
i just bought the 25 AND the 45 mm olympus, both balance greate but i’m having problems with rollin shutter. Do you have any tips on settings?
Be sure to stay with the shutter bellow 1/150.
The best way is always to setup the cam completly manual. So the shutter is always a multiple value of the fps set.
This is how ever not always possible if you have to fly in changing light conditions. In such a case I choose Aperture lock and set it to a value between 7-10. Also depending on what to shoot.
I then use a ND filter which puts the shuter speed bellow 1/150 to make sure I still get enough motion blur.
Another thing to check is a thight fit in the z15 gimbal.
As soon as the lense does not get clamped down in the front of the gimabl, you’ll get vibration problems which will produce rolling shutter imediatly.
So if you use the 25mm you should put a bit tape or so on it as the lense clamp ring does not work with it.
Let me know how you are doing 😉
Great work! I just moved into a S1000 what other lens have worked for you on the Zenmuse and GH4 setup? I have the 12mm olympus.
Cheers
Hello Daniel
I also fly a 25mm. I’ve wrote also a blog about it http://www.riot.ch/en/dji-gimbal-z15-gh4-und-olympus-m-zuiko-digital-25-mm-18-objektiv/
But you’ll need a very good setup with as less vibrations as possible. Otherwise you’ll get a chance of nasty rolling shutter jello.
So for most it works better for photo then video shots.
I just got myself the 25mm lens and I had some vibration problem. I need to try with some tape but which other setting could I do to have less vibration ?
